Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott just signed an extreme gerrymander of the state’s 38 congressional districts into law. It’s hyper-partisan and aims to remove several Democratic seats from Texas for the next decade.

Voting rights groups are already challenging this in court for violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. But with a 6-3 conservative Supreme Court supermajority and Mitch McConnell’s death grip on our democracy with the filibuster, it’s once again up to us — all of us — to defend our House majority with everything we’ve got.

We can’t let Republicans retake control of Congress. It’s simply not an option.

If they do, all of our progress could be wiped away, and Joe Biden’s agenda stymied. Effectively paving the way for Donald Trump in 2024. Our democracy is quite literally on the line.

They also completely took over state legislatures and governorships, where they’ve spent years peeling back voting rights, workers’ rights, reproductive rights — you name it. Emboldened by Trump, the GOP is threatening our democracy like never before.
