How California Laws are Stealing Christmas

The California Trucking Association, the California Retailers Association, the Western Growers along with several business groups have joined forces to lobby Gov. Newsom to declare a state of emergency in order to suspend AB 5 along with AB 701, a recently signed law that regulates quotas at warehouse distribution centers such as those of Amazon’s, which I had written about in detail here.

A Rare California Victory for Cutting Government Regulations

There is no uniformity or single guiding principle that determines training standards. Consequently, requirements are uncoordinated. The hours of training necessary to obtain a license range from 1,000 for a cosmetologist, to 160 for an emergency medical technician. Meanwhile, the state doesn’t require a crane operator to have any training. But tree trimmers must have 1,460 days, or four years of experience, to operate.

Despite Record Rainfall, California’s Politician-Created Drought Persists

Dry is perhaps the new normal in California, but not necessarily because Mother Nature hasn’t sent sufficient rainstorms to the West Coast in recent years.  We’ve been suffering through painful droughts because of the action – or in this case inaction – of politicians and bureaucrats.

In California, The Prohibitions Just Keep On Comin’

The new law applies not only to direct take-out orders but to third-party food deliveries. The “food facility” that contracts with delivery services must “list on its menu the availability of single-use foodware accessories and standard condiments and only provide those items when requested, as provided.”
