No one can afford to live on the federal minimum wage alone. At $7.25 an hour, it is a starvation wage.
That includes almost 1 in 5 veterans who would benefit from a federal minimum wage increase — 2/3 of whom are older than 40 years old.
So it was GREAT NEWS to see that just yesterday, the House of Representatives passed legislation that would raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
But now we need the Senate to take up this bill. So the pressure has to start now:
This is a popular bill — one supported by the vast majority of the American people. That’s precisely why McConnell would like its existence to fade into the background.
We can’t let that happen. Be heard.
