The way we see it, we have two options here.

Friends -

We’re emailing today to ask for something a little different than usual, and we hope you’ll continue reading below and give us a chance to explain why this request is so important.

As you may have read in our recent emails, we have an end-of-month fundraising deadline coming up in just 2 days.

The good news is that right now we have more donations in October than we did at this point in September.

The not so good news is that the average amount of those donations has dropped below what we accounted for — by about $4.50 each.

Now, that may not seem like a huge amount, but over a month, a quarter, or an entire campaign — it adds up very quickly. Each contribution we receive equals resources we need to continue building our movement and to help Ed fight for our progressive agenda in Congress — everything from a Green New Deal and Medicare for All to a Civilian Climate Corps and a $15 minimum wage.

So what’s the plan? How can we fix this? The way we see it, we have two options:

  1. LOTS more donations from a lot more people.
  2. Donations made in (even slightly!) higher amounts.

Now, usually when we ask our supporters to make their first online contribution from an email like this one, we ask for $3. But since we’re running out of time here in October, we need to ask you to do something big today:

Can you contribute $5 today? We wouldn’t ask if staying on track for the month were not so important.

The vast majority of the donations we receive come from lots and lots of people chipping in what they can, when they can. Ed’s incredibly proud of that fact — and we hope you are too.

Thanks in advance for adding your support.

In solidarity,

Team Markey
