** The world’s first ever malaria vaccine recommended by the WHO
------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier this month, in a truly historic moment, the RTS,S malaria vaccine became the first to be recommended by the WHO for use among children in sub-Saharan Africa and in other regions with moderate to high malaria transmission rates.

This incredible announcement marks a critical step forward in building our armoury of weapons against a disease that still kills over 400,000 people every year.

British company GSK played a pivotal role in the vaccine’s development, highlighting the role that UK expertise can play in the malaria fight. Through continued government investment in malaria research, we can ensure leading scientists have the support they need to continue to innovate – so we can beat this complex, but preventable and treatable disease.

** A new film highlights the work of British science fighting malaria
------------------------------------------------------------

Following the launch of our new report ([link removed]) highlighting the work of British science fighting malaria, at the Conservative Party Conference we premiered this new film interviewing top malaria scientists at Imperial College London and the Jenner Institute at the University of Oxford.

Speaking about their ground-breaking research they call for sustained investment from the British government to ensure the development and delivery of a new suite tools to help end malaria.

The event at the Conference also featured George Freeman MP, the UK Government Minister for Science, Research and Innovation. He stated that Britain can be a ‘Science Superpower’ by continuing to invest in science and using it to tackle global health challenges like malaria.

** Thank you, Fever-Tree!
------------------------------------------------------------

A huge thank you to Fever-Tree, who raised over £66,000 to help combat malaria through their summer pop-up Spritz bar in London, where they donated £1 for every spirit or mixer served at their quintessentially British garden bar.

Plus, demonstrating further determination to beat malaria – seven Fever-Tree colleagues took on this year’s Virtual London Marathon challenge earlier this month ([link removed]) .

Congratulations and thank you to Tad, Helen, Olivia, Jonathan, Sophie, Laura, and Liz for completing the gruelling marathon and for raising money, which Fever-Tree are generously matching, to help keep children and their families safe from malaria.
YOU CAN STILL SUPPORT THE RUNNERS ON JUST GIVING ([link removed])

Thank you,

Malaria No More UK team

PS. With a donation from you the end of malaria starts now - In 2021 no child should die from a mosquito bite. Malaria is preventable and curable. Your generosity can help end malaria for good.
