Justice in Loudoun County High School Case

A “gender fluid” teen boy, who was accused of sexual assault in a girls restroom at Stone Bridge High School in Loudoun County, was found guilty on all charges, reported ABC-7 news, which covers the Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia area.

The news outlet said the judge “determined that there were facts sufficient that the defendant committed a forcible assault.” The incident occurred on May 28 at Stone Bridge High School.

The perpetrator was also charged in a second incident of sexual assault after Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) transferred him to a different school, Broad Run High School. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) arrested the teen and said, “The investigation determined on the afternoon of October 6, the 15-year-old suspect forced the victim into an empty classroom where he held her against her will and inappropriately touched her.”

Twelve States Suing Administration to Keep Taxpayer Funds from Paying for Abortions

Twelve state attorneys general, led by Ohio Attorney General (AG) Dave Yost, have filed suit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The AGs are challenging the agency’s recent reversal of its 2019 “Protect Life Rule,” the net effect of which would be to allow taxpayer funds to pay for abortions, contrary to the federal law known as Title X.

Under Title X, approximately $250 million per year is handed out to clinics that provide “family planning services” such as birth control and basic health care to low-income women. However, Section 1008 of Title X specifically requires that “none of the funds appropriated under this title shall be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.”

The HHS’ 2019 Protect Life Rule finalized requirements that ensured clear physical and financial separation between a Title X program and any activities that fall outside the program’s scope. That physical and financial separation was intended to ensure compliance with the law’s requirement that Title X funding not support programs where abortion is a method of family planning.

The 2019 rule also prevented family planning providers from referring patients for abortions.

The Best Bet is One that I Lost

Legal sports betting has become ubiquitous – an ever-present reality once upon a time relegated to the cloistered casinos of Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

When the Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act in 2018 – a 1992 law that banned commercial sports betting in most states – experts foresaw the current explosion happening in real-time today.

From the NFL to Major League Baseball, betting commentary is everywhere. It’s becoming normalized. Even some of our favorite announcers and analysts have become spokespeople, slipping in advertisements for online outlets as part of the running commentary surrounding the games.

According to the Legal Sports Report, Americans have wagered $65 billion since the High Court ruling. That’s $5 billion more than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the country of Lebanon for the last three years combined.

And that’s legal betting.

By some estimates, Americans illegally wager upwards of $150 billion a year.

Families of 17 Missionaries Kidnapped in Haiti Preach Forgiveness, Salvation for Kidnappers

Recently, 17 Christian missionaries were abducted from an orphanage in poverty-stricken Haiti.

The six men, six women and five children who were abducted are affiliated with Christian Aid Ministries (CAM), an Ohio-based nonprofit organization.

According to police, the gang “400 Mawozo” is behind the kidnappings.

Since then, the leader of the gang has threatened to kill the hostages if he doesn’t get what he’s demanding – $1 million per person.

“I swear by thunder that if I don’t get what I’m asking for, I will put a bullet in the heads of these Americans,” he said in a recently filmed video.

And yet, the families of the hostages have countered the gang member’s evil threats and hateful words with love.

Christian Student Club Sues University of Houston over Leadership Requirements

Ratio Christi is a Christian student organization with chapters on college campuses across the United States. It exists to equip students to defend the faith using historical, philosophical and scientific reasons for following Jesus Christ. When it was denied official status on the campus of the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) recently because it requires its leaders to agree with the organization’s values and mission, the group initiated legal steps to protect its constitutional rights.

With the help of attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Ratio Christi filed a federal lawsuit alleging that UHCL violated its First Amendment rights of religious freedom and free speech. It did so, according to the complaint filed in federal district court, by treating the club differently than other student clubs.

The university states that its nondiscrimination policy prohibits “registered student organizations” (RSO) from discriminating based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, veteran status, gender, gender identity and gender expression.
