1.
Award-winning actress/producer/CEO Tracee Ellis Ross and writer/activist/comedian Baratunde Thurston will join us for a spotlight conversation.
Tracee will discuss the impact of growing up with a mixed heritage, Black and Jewish, and how it has shaped her priorities on inclusion. Tracee and Baratunde will talk about finding humor during heavy moments, especially over the last couple of years with the murder of George Floyd and the Jan 6 attack on the capitol, the importance of community, and how Never Is Now participants can play a role.
2.
The headlines are full of whistleblower revelations about the ugly truth behind Facebook’s Silicon Valley success story. Internal Facebook memos show the company knew about their platform’s role in spreading hate, sowing discord and promoting disinformation and yet did nothing about it.
Join us as we look behind the headlines with cybersecurity reporter Sheera Frenkel of the New York Times, co-author of “An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook’s Battle for Domination” and Kara Swisher, described by Newsweek as Silicon Valley’s “most powerful tech journalist” as Host of the Sway podcast, Contributing Writer for the New York Times Opinion section and a Contributing Editor at New York.
3.
Get a live update from Charlottesville, where the trial against dozens of white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and hate groups responsible for the deadly Unite the Right rally is now underway. Amy Spitalnick, the Executive Director of Integrity First for America, will provide an update on the Sines v Kessler federal civil lawsuit seeking to hold extremist leaders accountable for their actions and disrupt their activities.
Spitalnick will bring unmatched insights from the landmark case to Never Is Now as the head of Integrity First for America, the nonpartisan nonprofit that is spearheading the lawsuit on behalf of the Charlottesville community members injured in the violent gathering. Since 2019, ADL has supported IFA in its work.
4.
Rabbi David Wolpe will discuss the importance of “Never Again” alongside the surge in modern antisemitism. He will offer powerful reminders of how we must never forget and never stop learning from that tragedy, including the lesson of resolve in the face of hatred and the need to build allies willing to speak out to help protect the Jewish community and all marginalized communities.
Rabbi Wolpe, of Sinai Temple in LA, is one of the most influential rabbis in the United States.
After a year of escalating antisemitism and hate, we must come together at Never Is Now to unite, to learn and to act.
