John,
Let’s take a look at Texas. One party has complete control over the state legislature and the governor’s mansion. This is what has allowed them to pass egregious legislation like the latest bill that bans abortions after six weeks, and even stricter voting laws to purposely create voting hurdles and potential discrimination throughout the state.
We all know who this type of legislation impacts the most -- Black people.
And guess what? Texas isn’t special. The amount of anti-abortion legislation that has been enacted in 2021 surpasses every other year in U.S. history.
That’s why we’re on the ground in Virginia -- because to no surprise, there are countless people campaigning proudly against abortion and reproductive care. Countless people are campaigning against health care.
This election could very much mean the difference between a woman’s right to her own body versus unreliable reproductive care. It could mean the difference between defunding the police or pouring more money into them.
This is why this Virginia race is so important, and why we’re working tirelessly to raise money for our on-the-ground efforts this next week leading up to the election. Along with Governor and Lieutenant Governor, all 100 House delegate seats are up for grabs.
John, Virginia needs our help. Will you pitch in $5 or more to help elect the candidates that are dedicated to improving the lives of Black folk in Virginia by prioritizing Black liberation?

The fact of the matter is, we know that there are folks running in elections everywhere that are trying to tarnish our democracy with their white supremacist agenda.
If we don’t show up and show out like we did in the Georgia runoffs and California recall, these folks will then have the power to potentially reverse the progress Virginia has made within the last few years, like legalizing recreational marijuana use, repealing harmful abortion restrictions, and passing an LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination bill.
We cannot allow them to advance.
So John, it’s time for us to show up and show out in Virginia to ensure we shut these far-right policies down and continue to elect candidates that are fighting for Black lives.
Virginia’s election on November 2nd is one of the most important elections this year -- that’s just 4 days away. We can’t afford to fall short of our fundraising goals here. Please chip in to help fuel our GOTV efforts in Virginia.
In love and solidarity,
