California is awash in housing reform laws that don’t provide affordable housing. We believe the state must provide affordable housing, not hope that trickle-down economics can do it.

Please join us Saturday Oct. 30 at 10 am, to discuss a path forward:

  • After the Housing Bubble and Crash of 2008, Gov. Brown killed California’s major funding that poured billions into housing for low-income families.
  • After the funding was killed in 2011, Californians lost $15B in affordable housing the state would have provided for by now.
  • California has never come close to making up for that. Lawmakers have passed more than 80 housing laws since 2017. Just 2 of those laws provide affordable housing.
  • Gov. Newsom has earmarked major federal funds, that California received to recover from COVID, for affordable housing. We applaud his decision.
  • One-time money is not enough. Can wealthy California return to its role of providing fairly priced housing for low-income people?

We founded Livable California to challenge the harmful trickle-down concept, a theory shaped by tech leaders, investors and builders who aren’t responsible for affordable housing.

We are small fry, fighting huge financial forces. Please DONATE HERE to Livable California today. We thank you for keeping us going.

Also on Saturday, we’ll touch on:

  • Fantastic bills we strongly backed in 2021 became law and will bring broadband to struggling communities, helping them join the work-from-home movement.
  • More than 100 towns and cities in high-risk fire zones MUST act before Jan. 1 to set safety rules that lessen the firestorm and evacuation disasters SB 9 might cause. If you haven’t heard, SB 9 ALLOWS fourfold density in the deadliest fire zones in California. Your city council can’t say NO to an SB 9 developer. But they CAN set rules to make SB 9 less deadly.

Folks, we’re a nonprofit challenging the agenda of some of the wealthiest people on Earth in a time of weakened media coverage. Please donate today. And we very much appreciate it!
