Pumpkins, candy, costumes, fall in the air—Halloween is such a fun time.
It’s also a time when we push ourselves to confront what scares us. Maybe for some, that’s a scary movie. For others, a haunted house.
For me and 61% of Iowans, it’s the idea that current Senator Joni Ernst will be re-elected.
That’s right—only 39% of Iowans think she’s doing a good job. The rest of us know the terrifying truth: she’s a corporate-bankrolled Trump lackey whose campaign promises of bold leadership that would “make them squeal” in Washington have left Iowans squealing instead. While our small and homegrown businesses, our farmers, and many Iowans struggle under Ernst’s “leadership”, she’s sitting pretty atop the hundreds of thousands in corporate PAC and corporate lobbyist money she’s taken this cycle alone.
With Halloween just days away, consider what’s really scary: If we don’t flip the Senate—starting right here in Iowa by voting Ernst out—the terrifying realities that have come to define leadership like hers and Trump’s will persist. Everyday people like you and me will be left to try to pick up the pieces while the wealthy and their Congressional puppets stay in power.
