In the Build Back Better Agenda, we have a massive opportunity to fight climate change by adopting the Clean Electricity Payment Program, which would incentivize utilities to shift toward clean sources of energy.
Instead, this critical investment in fighting climate change is likely to be cut from the final bill. Why? Because Senator Joe Manchin would rather bow to the interests of fossil fuel executives than defend the future of our planet.
Joe Manchin’s refusal to fight climate change won’t just impact people in his home state of West Virginia -- it will hurt people here in Wisconsin, too.
Joe Manchin’s uninspired approach to legislating won’t get us where we need to be. It’s easy to look at something and say “it’s too expensive” -- it’s harder to actually do the research, collaborate with colleagues from different backgrounds, and innovate ideas that can satisfy Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike.
