John, in the last midterm election, 8-in-10 Senate races were won by the candidate who spent the most money.

I *really* wish it weren’t this way, but it's the truth. It takes a LOT of money to build a successful statewide campaign nowadays. That's why it's so disturbing to see things like this:

The Philadelphia Inquirer just reported that our Republican opponent gave themselves $3 MILLION to boost their campaign. And they’re spending the first million right out of the gate on a big TV ad campaign statewide.

To put that in perspective, our whole campaign raised $2.7 million over the last quarter. More than anyone else in Pennsylvania has raised in any quarter so far! We’ve had more than 150,000 people chip in.But the fact stands that one self-funder candidate was just able to pour in their personal millions to instantly top our total. 😩

In moments like this one, we gotta flex our campaign's muscle and answer GOP threats like this in a serious way.

You just heard the bad news. Our opponents are out here pouring $3 million at a time into their campaign coffers. So I am under no illusions that winning this race to flip this seat will be easy.

But the good news is that we have the numbers on our side. If everyone who reads my emails gave even a little bit, we could certainly compete with any self-funders on the other side.

I know it'd be outlandish to assume that folks could chip in each time we asked — we don't expect that at all. But that's what makes my team + me all the more grateful when yinz decide to kick a few bucks our way, you know?
