Standing with my brothers & sisters

Dear John,

As a former police officer, it was disappointing to learn that my brothers and sisters in uniform who are dedicated and devoted to keeping our neighborhoods and families safe were being used by the Minneapolis liberal mayor as political pawns to send some type of message to the President when he visited Minnesota earlier this month and the mayor issued rules prohibiting them from joining the rally. Meanwhile, outside the rally in Target Center, protesters engaged in boorish and in some cases illegal behavior attacking Trump supporters, throwing objects at police officers, and chanting hateful, anti-law enforcement rhetoric that has no place in public discourse. To my friends in law enforcement: I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation for all you do. You may support the President or completely disagree with him on any and every issue – that’s your right – but I want to thank you for putting on the uniform today and every day and keeping us safe. We appreciate you!

Our way of life should not be a political football

Whether it’s logging or farming, manufacturing or mining, supporting our way of life shouldn’t be a political football. We have been given endless and abundant natural resources in Minnesota’s 8th congressional district. With 21st century technology we can be good stewards of our natural resources and promote a robust and growing economy. With about a year until Election Day, it’s disappointing to see so many candidates play politics and partisan games with issues essential to our way of life, all in the name of pandering to extreme voting blocs. Whether I’m meeting with constituents here at home, voting in Congress, or campaigning on the stump, I’ll always be a proponent of unleashing the economic engine and fighting for our way of life.

Medicare for All scheme 'cruel' & 'dysfunctional'

While Democrat presidential candidates are tripping over themselves trying to outdo each other with unrealistic campaign promises, the “Medicare for All” scheme that would cripple our economy continues to be thrown about. In fact, one news report called their government-run health care scheme “cruel” and “dysfunctional.” While none of the candidates will explain the impact of their plan, know that it would:

• Cost $33 trillion;
• Result in largest tax increase in American history;
• Force 180 million Americans off their preferred employer-provided insurance plans;
• Abolish Medicare as we know it for America’s seniors; and
• Devastate our veterans’ health.

I will continue to work with Republicans and Democrats in Washington to do what we can to ensure health care is more affordable and accessible.

Enough with sideshows, let's fight for jobs

Rather than provide a significant trade agreement that would help unleash our economic engine, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), as well as significant tax reform, prescription drug pricing, and a much-needed highway bill is getting kicked to the curb by Speaker Pelosi as she continues to create political sideshows and engage in three-ring media circuses on a daily basis. The significant trade agreement between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico (USMAC) would help create jobs, expand export markets, strengthen protections for workers, and generate billions of dollars in new prosperity. And it would play a big role in helping unleash the economic engine in northern Minnesota and promoting our way of life. Let’s get this done!
