Friend,
This morning, President Biden released his new Build Back Better framework. If passed, it would be the largest climate investment in American history.
Read that again: If passed, it would be the largest climate investment in American history. But for now, that's still a big "if." And right now, it's up to the House to keep it alive.
House progressives must continue to hold the line against voting on the bipartisan infrastructure bill until both bills are ready to pass the Senate and move to Biden's desk. Say it with me now: No climate, no deal.
Today is a turning point in this debate, and we need to demonstrate that we're still 100% committed to passing both bills together. Sign your name to support House progressives in withholding their support from the bipartisan infrastructure bill until BOTH bills are ready to move toward the president's desk. (After you add your name, we'll give you a chance to call your representative in the House directly to tell them you've got their back!)
Here's what we're fighting for: Biden's new framework would be transformative and includes $555 billion for clean energy tax credits, environmental justice investments, a Clean Energy Accelerator, and a Civilian Climate Corps. In short, things you and I and the whole climate movement have been fighting for since day one.
This is good news from the White House—and it's coming just in time.
In a few days, Biden will travel to Glasgow to attempt to restore American credibility in the global fight against climate change. Armed with this framework—and leaders in the House who will continue to push for the two bills together—he could truthfully say the U.S. is ready for global climate leadership after four years of climate denial under Trump.
But anything short of an ironclad deal won't cut it, and we need to make that clear to our representatives.
Will you sign on today to double down on our push to pass both bills together? House progressives proved they have the power to make this happen, and we need them to hold the line and stay strong until both bills are ready to be signed into law. (And after you sign on, give your rep a call! We even provide a quick and easy script if you have a minute.)
The work continues,
