Friend,
I will not sell out my district by voting on an infrastructure bill that was written by the fossil fuel industry―and by two senators who do the will of Big Pharma and corporate polluters.
You might have heard the news: Congressional leaders are trying to force a vote on the inadequate infrastructure bill this week, before we even have legislative language for our Build Back Better bill, let alone a vote on it. Which means we risk losing our leverage and everything we’ve fought for in Build Back Better.
I’m joining progressives in the House to demand that we hold the line:
We were promised a vote on infrastructure at the same time as a vote on Build Back Better. And that is what we’re holding firm on.
We need legislative language confirmed for the Build Back Better legislation, agreement from 50 senators that they will vote for it, and votes on both bills together on the same day.
We cannot cave to corporate pressure. We can’t prioritize roads and bridges at the expense of children, seniors, working class people, and people of color. We’ve got to ensure both bills move together—and that means voting “no” on the smaller bipartisan bill if the Build Back Better package is not passed at the same time.
I am standing in solidarity with my district and millions of Americans who voted for and demand critical investments in our future. If you can, please pitch in today to hold the line: No vote on infrastructure without a vote on Build Back Better.

We can and must continue to fight for our communities and our families―not the insurance companies, Big Pharma, and Big Oil. Thank you for your partnership as we make our government work for the people, not just corporations and billionaires. Because at the end of the day, this is the People’s House.
Always serving you,
Rashida
