Many far-left progressives in Congress used the infrastructure bill as leverage to get their radical wish list items funded in the larger social welfare bill.
They held up a vote on this infrastructure bill until that happened, and some refused to vote on it until they got a vote on the larger $3.5T big-government spending bill (causing Speaker Pelosi to break a promise to moderate members). There’s a chance some may try to block it on the House floor today.
It’s a bit confusing, I know. This is what putting partisanship and politics over smart policy looks like.
