Madi was forced to leave Texas to get an abortion. Watch her story:
Planned Parenthood
Madi is a 21-year-old college student who lives in Texas. By the time she found out she was pregnant, it was already too late to get an abortion locally. The new Texas abortion ban, S.B. 8, went into effect in September, denying people abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

She was forced to travel hundreds of miles out-of-state to find the health care she needed.

Madi's story is not unique. Her health and her rights — like the health and rights of so many Texans — are at stake. The frustration, anxiety, and expense she was forced to endure — that matters, too.

And she is far from alone — this cruel and unconstitutional law affects millions of pregnant people. Many can't afford the trip to another state and are forced to remain pregnant.

Watch Madi tell her story in her own words in this ABC News story — and then share it far and wide.

Over the past few weeks, we've heard from pundits and politicians defending S.B. 8 as a clever way to get around Supreme Court precedents. We've seen TV pundits talk about how abortion bans will affect the next election. They argue endlessly about who's scoring points and who's losing, like it's a game.

This is not a game. It's our lives, our health, and our rights — all on the line.

Madi and so many others need abortion access now. They need to be heard, respected, and treated appropriately.

Please, take a few minutes to listen and understand how bans like S.B. 8 harm patients.
