Support Immigrants Rising today!
Hey John,

My name is Marithza Quiroz, and I am an undocumented grad student attending Stanford. I shared my story at the 20 Years AB 540 Conference
1 where we commemorated the landmark California law opened pathways for undocumented students to achieve their educational goals.

That’s why I’m asking you today to sign the pledge for equitable and inclusive access to higher education for all undocumented students in California.
When AB 540 passed in 2001, I did not meet its limited criteria. But SB 68 in 2017 expanded the eligibility for AB 540. By qualifying for in-state tuition and state-based financial aid, I completed my undergraduate education. Even then, it was hard for me to figure out that I qualified. So, together with Immigrants Rising, we developed the In-State Tuition Tool2  to help students understand eligibility requirements.

The conference wasn’t just a commemoration of AB 540—our call to action was for us to come together to address discrepancies. We must all work together to ensure equitable access to education for all undocumented students in California.

Join me in signing this pledge to break down more barriers for all students.

Together, we will create a state where all undocumented students can access and thrive in higher education like I did.

Thank you for building equitable institutions with me,

Marithza
