This month in Washington, Jared has been working to invest in Maine industries. Congress passed his bipartisan bill to open up more federal funding and resources for the small businesses that make up nearly 100% of Maine’s economy. Jared also worked across the aisle to introduce legislation that will create safer work environments for fishermen and lobstermen.
Despite attacks from Big Pharma, Jared is staying focused on driving down skyrocketing health care costs. He signed onto critical legislation that will allow Medicare to work on behalf of seniors to negotiate lower prescription drug prices with the pharma industry.
Jared is also fighting for the next generation of Mainers. Over the past 5 years, almost 3,000 Maine children were likely diagnosed with lead poisoning. Thanks to his leadership creating a lead-free future, Jared is taking one step closer to removing lead from nearly 220,000 homes per year.

Back in Maine’s second district, Jared is working with local leaders to bring high-speed internet to rural communities. He toured parts of Western Maine to hear directly from folks who want to grow their businesses and invest in their education, but don’t have the broadband access to do so.
Jared is leading the charge to protect the jobs of Maine’s lobstermen who, if pending federal regulations go through, would be forced to cut the number of lines they use by 60%. He stood with them at a rally in Stonington earlier this year where the lobstermen voiced their concerns about what the regulations would do to their livelihoods.
