It’s urgent, Friend, because as you know, the drug war isn’t limited to arrests and incarceration. It affects every aspect of your life including:

===Employment. You can be denied jobs because of drug testing. Yet, there is NO EVIDENCE that drug testing employees increases workplace productivity or predicts on-the-job impairment.

===Education. Harsh disciplinary policies and increased police presence have led to the criminalization and punishment of students, especially students of color. Did you know that 10 million students are in schools that have police, but no social workers?

===Housing. You can be evicted from your home if you’re arrested for drug possession – without even being convicted!

The drug war pushes policies that criminalize people who use drugs and does nothing to make us safer or healthier. In fact, deaths from accidental overdose continue to rise! 94,000 of our friends and family were lost to overdose in 2020 alone. We need to fully extract the drug war and its culture of criminalization from our lives, NOW!
