Dear John,
As debate continues around paid leave, abortion access, and more – issues which shouldn’t even be up for debate – are impacting the lives of real women and girls every day. So, this month we were encouraged that the Biden-Harris Administration released the first-ever national strategy on gender equity and equality. It’s an important step that recognizes the effectiveness of an intersectional approach and highlights key priorities such as advancing economic security and preventing gender-based violence. To make this strategy a reality, there’s much more to be done and we look forward to our continued role in shaping this work.
Here’s what else happened this month:

We hope you did not miss the Associated Press story featuring our grantmaking last year. Nearly $4M in direct grants were made to more than 114 organizations throughout the country. We are especially proud that 90% of our grantee partners are organizations led by women and girls of color.
The article provides more info about our grantmaking strategies, initiatives, and highlights grantee partner, Ratasha Elise of Chocolate Soul Revival, and their healing and racial justice work. Read the full story here.
Ahead of her conversation with the Vermont Women’s Fund for their annual celebration, President and CEO Teresa C. Younger, spoke with Vermont local broadcaster WCAX about the history of the Ms. Foundation, consciousness raising, and women’s evolving role in philanthropy, saying: "We're seeing more opportunities for women to come together, collectively share their power, and collectively make decisions about where money should go."
