Late last night, we got a look at the THIRD version of the congressional maps from the Illinois state legislature. This map is so new that we haven’t had a lot of time to dissect the details of it, but here are the biggest takeaways we have at this very moment:
--This version of the map only includes 30% of the existing IL-14, meaning 70% of the voters we need to communicate with have never had Lauren Underwood on their ballot before.
--Because of this, we’ll need new offices in these areas and will need to hire and deploy new organizers to engage the community.
--This version of the map would keep Lauren as one of the most vulnerable Democrats in the Illinois delegation.
As we’ve said for the last few weeks, our campaign’s top priority right now is raising the resources we need to go full speed ahead communicating with voters once the governor signs a map into law.
We’re still raising into our Redistricting Fund, and with this new version released, we’ve set a goal to raise $5,000 from grassroots supporters like you TODAY. Can you chip in?

While all of this may seem a bit overwhelming, let’s take a moment to recognize just how special this moment is for Lauren and our campaign. When Lauren first ran for Congress and she introduced herself to supporters and voters in her community, folks were immediately struck by her charisma and uniqueness. They saw a bold leader who could effectively fight for our shared values.
Now, we have an opportunity to do that all over again with tens of thousands of new voters and hundreds of thousands of new residents that Lauren will eventually represent in Congress.
It’s exciting, but it will be a huge undertaking. That’s why it’s so important we reach our $5,000 Redistricting Fund goal -- because we’ve got our work cut out for us, and the NRCC and Kevin McCarthy are still hot on our tail. Chip in today at this secure link:
