NDN has released the following statement from its President Simon Rosenberg:
“We applaud the White House and Congressional leaders for coming to what appears to be a smart agreement on how to move forward on the reconciliation package. We urge Democrats in both chambers to move towards swift passage of it in the coming days, and to pass the long-delayed infrastructure bill as soon as possible.
There needs to be urgency to Congressional action now. New GDP numbers out today show the economy slowing. Rapid passage of these two bills can help aid what has become an uneven economic recovery from COVID. Additionally, passing the infrastructure bill, which includes a great deal of critical climate and clean energy related provisions, will give the President more authority to lead the world forward in the coming climate talks in Glasgow.
History will certainly look back at this year as one of Washington’s most productive - defeating COVID, launching an economic recovery, investing in future prosperity for all, tackling climate, improving health care…..There is little doubt that 2021 will end up being seen as a year of remarkable progress for the nation.
This is an exciting day, and Democrats would be wise now to stand by their President and seize the moment.”
