As we suspected, Labour announced yesterday that they are forcing their Three Waters reforms on local councils by legislation.



Let me make our position very clear: National will repeal the Three Waters reforms and return all seized assets back to your local councils as soon as we return to Government.



Labour will try to ram their bill through Parliament at any cost, but National will fight them every step of the way. We can’t afford to lose the ‘local’ from local government.



Labour have failed to deliver on just about everything they’ve promised, and we need your help to tell as many Kiwis as possible. Can we count on your support? <[link removed]>



Nanaia Mahuta has foreshadowed this path for months, continually refusing to rule out mandating the reforms:



- First, the Government tried a $4 million scare campaign of misleading cartoon ads, showing sludge pouring from people’s taps.

- Then they announced a $2.5 billion slush fund to buy council support, which most councils saw for what it was.

- Finally, and most despicably, Nanaia Mahuta and Jacinda Ardern were willing to put councils though a sham consultation process, when they always intended to make it mandatory.



It is plain for anyone to see that the Three Waters reforms are an asset and power grab by a Government that never met a public service it didn’t want to centralise and control.



We need every fed-up New Zealander despairing about this Government to know that National has your back and we’re focused on making sure Labour has no chance at the next election.



National has been vocally and relentlessly opposing the Three Waters asset grab in the news, in parliament, and on social media. Our job on Three Waters has only just begun as we prepare to throw everything at Labour to oppose the legislation.



Tell your family and friends that National opposes Labour’s Three Waters reforms. We will repeal and reverse it.
