Red State Recovery

• While Biden and the Democrats’ spending agenda smothers the economic recovery, Republican-led states continue to see more jobs and lower unemployment.

• Newly released data for September from the Labor Department confirms that Republican governors and legislatures are leading the way in getting Americans back to work.

  • More jobs are being recovered and unemployment is lower in red states.

  • 17 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors

  • 18 of the top 20 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.

  • The top 14 states for jobs recovered are all led by Republicans.

  • 24 Republican-led states have recovered at least two-thirds of their lost jobs.

  • Republican-led states on average have recovered 80% of their lost jobs compared to just 67% for Democrat-run states.

• Red states have also achieved lower unemployment rates than blue states.

  • Out of the top 20 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 16 are led by Republican governors.

  • The top 11 states with the lowest unemployment rates are all led by Republicans.

  • The 8 states with the highest unemployment rates are all led by Democrat governors: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, and New York.

  • The unemployment rates in 9 Republican-led states – Nebraska, Utah, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Georgia, Montana, West Virginia, Wyoming, and Mississippi – are lower than or at the same level they were when the pandemic began.

• With gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey about one week away, residents of those states must reject another 4 years of Democrat leadership.

  • Under Democrat Governor Ralph Northam, Virginia is in the top 10 states for least jobs recovered and ranks 49th for the best state to start a business. 

  • Virginia businesses are struggling to maintain normal operations due to worker shortages.

  • Virginians are fleeing high taxes and an unfriendly business environment, with more people moving out of the state than into it.

  • Now is not the time for Terry McAuliffe’s tax hikes and rubber stamp for Biden’s job-killing agenda – the last time McAuliffe was Governor, Virginia had 0 economic growth during his first year in office.

• Under Democrat Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey consistently ranks in the top 10 for highest unemployment rate and ranks 47th for the best state to start a business in.

  • On Murphy’s watch, nearly 1/3^rd of New Jersey small businesses were shuttered last year, with many still struggling  to rebound.

  • New Jersey is suffering from a statewide school bus driver shortage, with kids arriving late, crying, and hungry – if the bus even shows at all.

  • Under Murphy, New Jersey has the highest tax burden in the nation.

• The far-left economic policies guiding the Democrat Party are causing record inflation, unprecedented supply-chain issues, skyrocketing gas prices, higher taxes, and lower wages for hardworking Americans across the country.
