This is not good.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

I wanted to make sure that you saw this email about how Apple is giving Trump and his new social media app, Truth Social, a platform on the App Store, which is already available for preorder.

News about Trump’s new app broke last week, just days before a Rolling Stone exclusive revealed that organizers of the deadly white supremacist-led January 6 insurrection had “dozens of planning meetings with members of Congress and White House Staff” and organized on Facebook.1 We cannot let this happen again, which is why it is so wrong that Apple is giving white supremacy and Trump a platform after he directly incited the insurrection on social media.

Will you join nearly 100,000 MoveOn members and add your name to my petition calling on Apple and CEO Tim Cook to do the right thing and drop Trump’s new social media app from the App Store?

Thanks for all you do!

–Matthew Witten

SIGN THE PETITION: Apple and CEO Tim Cook must drop Trump’s new social media app!

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

This is not good. News broke last week that Trump, who is banned from Facebook and Twitter for inciting the deadly white supremacist-led January 6 insurrection on social media, is launching a new social media app…1 And Apple is giving it, and Trump, a platform on its App Store. It is indefensible.

Sign the petition: Tell Apple and CEO Tim Cook to drop Truth Social, Trump’s new social media app from the App Store.

This isn’t the first time Apple has been in the hot seat: Ten years ago, after receiving pressure from the public, Apple took down a terrible, anti-LGBTQ+ app that dehumanized the LGBTQ+ community and promoted the use of conversion therapy.2

This just shows how much power we have when we come together against hate and lies. Apple can and must do the right thing.

Apple and CEO Tim Cook: Drop Truth Social, Trump’s new social media app, from the App Store.

As a longtime consumer of Apple products myself, I must say that my faith in Apple is weakened knowing that it is giving a platform to Trump.

Especially after Trump knowingly downplayed the threat of COVID-19, and his lies and negligence led to the death of hundreds of thousands across the country, after his lies about the election resulted in a deadly insurrection and in Republican state legislatures introducing voter suppression legislation in 48 states across the country. All of these lies were spread all over social media and have caused so much harm, especially to BIPOC, disabled people, and working people. Enough.

Other tech companies have done the right thing and stopped Trump from spreading lies on its platforms. Now, Apple must follow suit instead of being an outlet for racism, sexism, misogyny, xenophobia, antisemitism, homophobia and transphobia, or any other form of hate.

Apple: We are watching you and expect you to do the right thing.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!
