The problem comes when lobbyists and the companies who employ them use money to buy influence within our government—like when the NRA lobbies against bills that would regulate guns and make schools safer. And right now, Big Pharma is fiercely lobbying against new legislation that would allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. There are thousands of lobbyists for Big Oil, Big Pharma, and hundreds of other special interest groups in Congress right now, John, and many of them are putting profits before people.
