I deactivated my Facebook and Instagram accounts, and I want to tell you why.

There have been recent reports that reveal Facebook’s algorithm amplified hate speech and misinformation.

I can’t take part in a platform that sows division, threatens users’ mental health -- especially the health of teens -- and undermines our democracy.

Facebook must make reforms, and those reforms must be paired with action from Congress. I’m committed to working with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to enact change and protect our children and our democratic values.

Today, I want to hear your thoughts. Do you support my decision to leave Facebook?

Your friend,

Dutch

P.S. There are still plenty of ways Marylanders and supporters can get in touch with me -- including on Twitter [[link removed]] .
