As negotiations are wrapping up on the latest COVID-19 reconciliation bill, we are hopeful and cautious. Thanks to your advocacy, it’s looking more and more likely that this next bill will include home- and community-based services (HCBS). But there is still the danger that Congress won’t include enough funding for HCBS, making only a small step forward instead of the real investment our community deserves. It’s time to tell Congress that we need $250 billion for HCBS, so all of us can access the care and services we need.
We know it’s been a long road, but our advocacy is working. TOMORROW, join disability activists and organizers all across the country in a #CareCantWait day of action. Let’s find out what we can achieve when we keep taking action together! Call your members of Congress to make sure that this vital funding is included. Dial 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected with your member of Congress. You can use our script:
My name is [your full name], and I am from [city]. I’m calling to ask Senator/Representative [Name] to make sure that COVID recovery includes at least $250 billion for home- and community-based services. This funding would provide a critical investment in services for people with disabilities and aging adults, as well as the workforce that provides those supports. Many people with disabilities and aging adults rely on home- and community-based services to do things like get dressed, take care of our families, work, and participate in our communities. Right now, thousands of people can’t get the support they need. We need a big investment to make community services work for everyone who needs them. Can I count on the Senator/Representative’s support?
Once you’ve made your calls, join us on social media using the hashtag #CareCantWait to let us know how your calls went, and to take further action!

Thank you for standing up for our community by lending your voice to this campaign! Funding for HCBS is a vital step toward building a more equitable world for all people with disabilities. Tell your members of Congress that #CareCantWait!
