We must take action today!

John,

In Massachusetts and across the United States, communities that have been hit hardest by COVID-19 are the same communities that struggle year after year because of the epidemic of gun violence. In Massachusetts, our leaders have a history of supporting these communities through our successful, evidence-based violence intervention programs. As citizens, we have an opportunity to take action today.

Tomorrow the MA House of Representatives is finalizing a bill that would disburse Federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding through out the Commonwealth. You can take action today to tell your State Representative that they should include funding for gun violence prevention in this bill.

Stop Handgun Violence has been working with a coalition of over forty organizations on getting this funding for gun violence prevention. Because of our advocacy, our incredible leaders included $10 million for gun violence prevention in the first draft of the bill but we believe the need for this funding is much more critical. We're asking you to email your State Representative today and tell them to support Rep. Vargas' Amendment #836 which would increase gun violence funding to $50 million.

Thank you for taking action today.

Sincerely,

Zoe Grover

Executive Director of Stop Handgun Violence
