Hey John — We emailed you last week about stopping Joe Manchin from jettisoning the Clean Electricity Performance Program (CEPP) from Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda. But now Senator Manchin is going a step further and demanding more environmental cuts to the reconciliation package.

This is our moment. Will you add your name to tell Joe Manchin that we need to keep pro-environment, climate initiatives in the Build Back Better legislation? The clock is ticking, and analysts say we won’t be able to reach critical climate change benchmarks without strong and swift congressional action. That’s why we need you to sign now. SIGN NOW [[link removed]]Currently on the chopping block is a provision to impose a fee on methane emissions, which would incentivize companies to stop leaks of the gas. Methane has more than 80 times the temperature raising impact of carbon dioxide as well as many dangerous public health impacts, including increasing the risk of cancers, asthma, and fetal defects — so reducing its emissions will have a big impact!

Next to the CEPP, this methane fee is the second-most important provision in the Build Back Better Act for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. But now Joe Manchin has his sights on removing this provision too.

SEEC Members are standing up to push back on Joe Manchin, but we need your help to show there is grassroots support for including the methane fee in the final package.

Will you show Joe Manchin that we won’t let these key environmental provisions go without a fight? Sign our methane fee petition now. [[link removed]]
