John,

Tomorrow marks three years since a gunman armed with an AR-15-style assault weapon murdered 11 people at the Tree of Life Synagogue — a massacre The New York Times called one of "the deadliest against the Jewish community in the United States."

It was a harrowing reminder of the harsh truth of our nation: No one is safe from gun violence until everyone is. That's true whether you are worshipping in a synagogue or church, attending a concert, going grocery shopping, going to school ... or even answering your front door, which is what my mother was doing when she was shot and killed.

As we remember the 11 people who were murdered at Tree of Life, we have to be clear about one thing: We cannot afford to keep living like this, and we cannot allow our loved ones to keep dying like this. It has to stop now.

That's why I'm asking for your help. Brady works every single day to demand life-saving change like an assault weapons ban and to end this epidemic of gun violence, but we can only do it with support from people like you who agree: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. So to honor those lost in Pittsburgh three years ago and prevent any more people from being killed by gun violence, please, will you sign our urgent petition demanding Congress BAN assault weapons?

We can't erase the loss, pain, and fear that these tragedies have brought, but we can take action to prevent it from happening again. We fought hard to elect gun safety champions in 2020, and now we have their support in the House, Senate, and White House. We have the chance to pass life-saving legislation that can keep assault weapons out of the wrong hands — a move that would have prevented the Tree of Life shooting and countless others.

But it's not going to happen on its own. We still have to fight, to push, to demand change and insist that our lives are worth more than the NRA's profits. And all that depends on your support.

So please, with so much at stake: Sign our petition before the midnight deadline tomorrow to demand Congress BAN assault weapons and save lives from these weapons of war.
