Pharma can make life-saving and life-extending drugs, but they kill us with the cost.

One-third of American adults who need medication don’t take it because it’s too expensive. Think about that — our loved ones may not be able to take the medications they need because of Big Pharma’s neverending price hikes. Congress must finally put a stop to this industry’s price gouging by allowing Medicare to negotiate for fair prices.

I’m standing up for consumers and taxpayers in Washington to protect them from Big Pharma’s monopoly pricing power. Inaction is not an option. We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring down the cost of prescription drugs as part of the Build Back Better plan, but some of my Democratic colleagues need to hear from the American people that this needs to get done, now.

I’ve been in this fight to allow Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices for a long time. It’s the right thing to do for patients, consumers, and employers who are getting hammered by skyrocketing costs. And we are now closer than ever to getting it done.

But pivotal moments such as these are when Big Pharma reaches deep into its pockets to fight back. In the first three months of 2021, Big Pharma spent over $91 million trying to convince my colleagues to keep drug prices high.Their lobbyists are hard at work trying to preserve their sweetheart deal and ensure the biggest possible profits for their CEOs and shareholders.

So if you support stopping the Big Pharma rip off and bringing down the cost of prescription drugs, now is the time when Congress must hear your voice.
