Bangor Daily News: “GOP makes ‘election integrity’ hire in Maine ahead of the 2022 campaign”

We’ve seen it around the country, Republicans working to undermine election results all in the name of “integrity”. We know what this really means, blocking access to the ballot, making it harder to vote, and perhaps worst of all, actively working to erode confidence in the cornerstone of our democracy -- elections.

This type of right-wing extremism has found its way to Maine. The Bangor Daily News reported that the Republican National Committee just hired an “election integrity” staffer in Maine for the 2022 elections. GOP activists are taking their marching orders from Donald Trump and dutifully spreading the Big Lie so they can whip up their base.

We cannot allow the GOP to interfere with Mainers’ right to vote in 2022, John. Will you contribute $5 right now to support the Maine Democrats election protection efforts and our fight to elect Democrats up and down the ballot?

In 2020, Maine had one of the highest rates of voter turnout in the country. When all Mainers have the opportunity to make their voices heard, Democrats win. The GOP knows they can’t compete in a fair fight.

So now, as we campaign to reelect Democratic Governor Janet Mills, defend our two Democratic congressional seats and protect our majorities in the state legislature, the Maine GOP is resorting to shady tactics designed to intimidate voters and steal free and fair elections in 2022.
