Dear John,
The United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP26) next week marks the most consequential global climate summit in years and a critical opportunity for governments to raise their ambition and commit to the policies needed to tackle the climate crisis. Ceres will join the call for greater climate ambition and action through a number of events between October 31 through November 12. See below for a current list of our events and check our COP events page for more updates. |
Responsible Policy Engagement
November 3, 2021, 10:30-11:30am ET | 2:30-3:30pm GMT
Online and in the Blue Zone, Business Pavilion, Boardroom, Hall 4
Hosted by CDP, B-Team and Ceres
The voice of business is crucial to advocate for ambitious climate policy to drive economy-wide transition but companies must be responsible and consistent policy advocates. As more companies set ambitious targets to reduce their emissions across their value chains, how do they mainstream their climate commitment across their business to act and communicate consistently? This is especially true when engaging policymakers, whether as a company or by their trade groups on their behalf. How do companies ensure that trade groups are consistently and accurately representing their views on climate, as it is essential to ensure policymakers receive consistent signals from business? |
Women in Finance Climate Action Group:
Practical Steps to Deliver Finance for Climate Action and Gender Equality
November 3, 2021, 11:30am-1pm ET | 3:30-5pm GMT
Streamed live from the Green Zone, Tower Base South, Glasgow Science Centre
Women and girls are hit hardest by climate impacts around the world. They are also hugely under-represented in climate negotiations. Ceres CEO & President Mindy Lubber joins Aviva CEO Amanda Blanc, Blackrock Head of UK Sarah Melvin, and more, for the Women in Finance Climate Action Group—a collective of women leaders from around the world—to set out how we can tackle the connected issues of gender inequality and private climate finance.
The event will feature senior women from business, the public sector and civil society exploring how private finance can and must support both climate action and gender equality. It will focus on the tangible actions that are needed, underpinned by the first ever research report to look into the connection between these issues in depth. Audience participation will be encouraged, with the Climate Action Group looking to connect and strengthen the network of women looking to help solve these issues around the world.
If you are unable to attend in person you can join virtually by subscribing to the COP26 YouTube channel. One week before COP26, the event will be updated to include a link to the live stream. |

Road through Glasgow: Accelerating Investor, Business, and Government Climate Action
November 5, 2021, 12pm ET | 4pm GMT

The 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) will take place in Glasgow October 31 through November 12. Ceres will join the action in Glasgow virtually this year and will provide real-time analysis and key insight into COP26 discussions and initiatives. Government, business, investor and labor representatives will join a conversation with Ceres experts, as they identify key linkages between the COP26 deliberations and near term actions needed to achieve the agreed upon outcomes. This is your opportunity to explore the importance of: securing U.S. business and investor support for essential climate change provisions for infrastructure and budget reconciliation bills that are a pivotal milestone to determine the trajectory of the talks; targeting media markets by highlighting the financial risk of inaction encourages companies to support the legislation despite incurring higher taxes; and aligning those critical climate goals with key
policymakers in Congress to ensure these bills are successfully supported with all climate action measures intact.
