Winning changes that improve the lives of New Yorkers has to start by listening to people about their experiences. That’s why I’ve been crisscrossing the city on a listening tour, and that's why we’re launching this citywide survey to hear directly from New Yorkers in every neighborhood.
From working with advocates and organizers to win transformative policy changes for tenants and workers, to bringing participatory budgeting to NYC, to winning transparency that will give all New Yorkers access to information on parks, school, and infrastructure projects in their community, I've brought a collaborative approach to my work in government because I believe that the best way to lead is through collaboration.
New Yorkers have a fierce love for their neighborhoods, and you know better than anyone what your neighborhood needs to thrive. I want you to tell me what you want to see changed in your community, which parts of our government aren’t delivering, and how you’d like to see our city transformed.
Last Friday, Eric Adams asked me to “audit the hell out of city agencies” to root out dysfunction and help make them work better.
It’s a great and collaborative invitation. Let’s take him up on it together.
