John,
An employee and friend of Lauren Boebert is launching a campaign for Rifle City Council, despite not meeting the residency requirements. The candidate, Bud Demicell, has worked as the general manager of Boebert's Shooter's Grill, is a long-time friend of Boebert, and is a supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory.
The City of Rifle mandates that any municipal candidate must "have resided in the City of Rifle for one year before the date of the election." However, Demicell, according to a series of his posts on social media, clearly does not meet this requirement.
It's not rare to see someone close to Boebert violating the law, but it is concerning, nonetheless. However, whether or not he broke election code, it is vital that Boebert’s stooge stays out of office. Every QAnon supporter in office is a danger to the safety and public health of the nation, whether because of their connection to the January 6th riot or their anti-vax misinformation campaigns.
That's why it's important that we all pay close attention to this race and, if we can, get as many local voters out to vote. That's where the Colorado Turnout Project comes in. CTP is one of only a few political groups in the state dedicated to fighting QAnon conspiracists at all levels of government across the state. We know how important sanity and compassion are in government, and that's why we're doing everything we can to push back against people like Boebert and Demicell. This effort is funded by people, not corporations or interest groups, so please, consider chipping in to take the fight to these insurrectionists.
