Dear John,

Taxpayers pushed back and you saved a tonne of money.

The federal government announced that it is reining in some of the costly COVID-19 subsidies ([link removed]) because thousands of taxpayers demanded the government to stop all this borrowing.

Thousands of Canadian Taxpayers Federation supporters told the federal government to stop paying people to skip work, and now you can join them to push Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to pay down the $1-trillion debt.

“Our support needs to be more narrow, more targeted and less expensive,” said the Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland as she announced ending some temporary COVID-19 subsidies. “And we need to look forward to the day, now not too far off, when we will be able to bring it to an end entirely.”

Do you think the federal government would have reined in this spending without pressure from taxpayers? Not a chance.

This is a big first step for taxpayers like you, but the fight is not over. Ottawa will continue to waste your money unless you pressure the government to find savings.

The federal government is more than $1 trillion in debt. Your share of that debt is $30,000. Do you think it’s fair that the federal government continues to take you further into debt? If not, then you need to take action.

You need to pressure Trudeau to reduce the $1-trillion debt before he raises your taxes.

You can stand with thousands of other Canadians who are demanding the federal government rein in the deficits by adding your name to the online PETITION to stop Trudeau’s dive into debt: [link removed] ([link removed])

Once you’ve signed the petition, please forward it to your friends and family so more Canadians can stand with you and demand the federal government reduce the $1-trillion debt.

Thanks for standing up for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!

Sincerely,
* Franco, Shannon, Todd and the rest of the CTF team
