John,
BREAKING NEWS: We finally can start to restore net neutrality!
Politico is reporting that Jessica Rosenworcel has been nominated to be the permanent chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and Gigi Sohn—a fierce champion for net neutrality and affordable broadband—has been nominated to be the agency’s 5th commissioner.1
This is the best news for the Internet in YEARS! But now we need to flood the Senate with calls and emails to make sure these nominees get confirmed, and push them to move as quickly as possible to restore net neutrality. Will you chip in to help do that?
DONATE TO RESTORE NET NEUTRALITY!
We’re delighted by this news, but it’s crucial that we hit the ground running. The White House waited months to make these nominations, which means we’re going to hit a time crunch. If the Senate doesn’t act quickly on confirmation hearings, we could run out of legislative days.
And, of course, telecom giants like Comcast and AT&T will be deploying their army of lobbyists to Capitol Hill, and they’ll be doing everything in their power to slow things down, throw sand in the gears, and prevent the FCC from reversing Ajit Pai’s terrible policies and restoring net neutrality.
If we make enough noise, they won’t have a chance, and net neutrality will be the law of the land again by the end of next year.
But we need your help to make that happen. Can you make a donation to support our net neutrality work today?
Glad to be writing to you with some good news, for once!
More soon,
-Evan at Fight for the Future
P.S. The best, best way to support our work for net neutrality and other crucial digital rights issues is to become a recurring donor and chip in a small amount every month. You can do that here!
