Hi, John — it’s Jessica.
I'm furious at the GOP’s attempts to hurt our democracy. In just this year alone, the conservative Texas state legislature – with help from Texas Governor Greg Abbott – passed a restrictive voter suppression bill, an oppressive abortion ban, and gerrymandered congressional lines.
With Texas 28th district’s primary election just 126 days out, we can’t turn a blind eye to Republicans’ attempts to silence every marginalized voice that opposes them. The time to act is NOW.
We need to scale up our outreach efforts to continue building our campaign in order to win our race. So we cannot take a single vote for granted. We must double down our efforts to out-organize and out-raise Henry Cuellar and the GOP.
That’s why my team set an ambitious goal to raise $7,000 by our end-of-month deadline in the next 5 days to fund the resources we need to reach out to as many voters as possible to win this race. Can we count on your support?

This campaign is about so much more than defeating Henry Cuellar. It’s about sending representation to Congress that won’t align themselves with the GOP on policy and will fight tooth-and-nail for working people, immigrant communities, and for all of my neighbors in South Texas who have been ignored, neglected, and disenfranchised.
Texas’s 28th District is what some people call a “blue seat.” But our congressman, Henry Cuellar, has acted like the opposite of a real Democrat in Congress. He’s fought instead to serve his corporate donors, the NRA, Big Oil, private prison companies, and big banks.
I’m running because we need a representative who’ll fight for a path to citizenship, Medicare for All, and a Green New Deal.
I’m running because we need to get big money out of politics and stop letting corporate donors stack the deck in D.C.
I’m running because this moment, in the wake of a devastating pandemic, requires Democrats in Congress who will actually get things done, not stand in the way.
Despite everything stacked against us, we defied expectations by earning 48.2% of the vote during our primary in 2020. But it was just the beginning, John.
Together, this time, we are going to prove that our grassroots movement can take on the status-quo and win. But, I can’t do it without you, so please consider making a contribution today.
I cannot understate the importance of raising as much money as possible to show momentum in our last 126 days until the TX-28 primary election. With that being said, can I count on you to contribute to help us hit our $7,000 end-of-month goal?
