Due to today's flood advisories, flash flood watches, and gale warnings for the northeast, the Stop Danskammer Coalition has canceled today's costume rally in Albany.

Activists from the Hudson Valley and Capitol Region had planned to deliver thousands of petitions to the Capitol Building in Albany, demanding that Governor Hochul deny the permits for the proposed Danskammer fracked gas plant. Following the petition delivery, costumed activists had intended to encircle the Empire State Plaza concourse with a Halloween-themed, Light or Fright “Stop Deathskammer” costume rally including larger-than-life artwork and puppetry, music, and chants to highlight Governor Hochul’s choice — toward light (solar & wind power, thriving natural world) or toward fright (continued toxic pollution at the expense of public health and the environment). However, we decided it is better for folks to stay off the roads today.

Instead of asking you to meet us in Albany today, we encourage you to sign the petition to reject the proposed fracked gas plant and share the petition with 10 friends this week; that way we will have thousands more to hand to Governor Hochul’s staff when we reschedule the petition delivery!
