Everyone deserves a chance at an affordable, high-quality education and the opportunity that comes with it, but for too many there are barriers to entry standing in students’ way.

Brian is working on legislation to break down the barriers to higher education -- from the extreme costs and associated debt to the racial and socioeconomic disparities in the education system:
Brian is fighting for legislation that would provide a path to debt-free college for all students.
He introduced legislation to remove criminal history questions from college applications that shut out the 70% of Americans who have criminal records -- a disproportionate number of whom are men of color -- from getting a good education and rebuilding their lives.
He’s leading the charge on a bill that would improve access to resources for community college students -- like free tutoring, textbooks, and transportation -- to improve graduation rates.
And Brian introduced legislation that would provide funding to colleges and universities to address the racial and socioeconomic disparities in higher education and help students of color, students with disabilities, and veterans succeed and graduate on time.
