I know we’ve been asking a lot of you lately, but with a critical election just over one week away and our fundamental rights increasingly at risk, we’ve got a lot to get done together. The Virginia election is increasingly on my mind – that’s why I’m going to be hitting the pavement myself this weekend to help get out the vote in support of the many progressive champions we have running this year.
I hope you’ll join me on Tuesday, once I’ve been on the ground in Virginia myself, for a virtual briefing about what People For is doing to help secure progressive wins and how people nationwide can pitch in. I will be hosting an event with legendary civil rights leader Dolores Huerta, Virginia House Majority Leader Charniele Herring, and other elections experts on how people across the country can and should get involved.
With Democrats holding the narrowest of majorities in both houses of Congress, it’s critical that we head into the 2022 election season with a strong win in Virginia – and we need your help to do that. Recent polls continue to show a race that is neck and neck, and that’s why we need everyone to get involved.
During this live briefing, we’ll learn the most up-to-the minute details about the race, what its impact will be nationwide, and how we can help folks on the ground in-state. In fact, later in the week after sharing updates on our key Get Out The Vote program Latinos Vote!, Dolores will be heading out to Virginia herself to do the kind of in-person organizing that is key to state elections. You won’t want to miss what she and Majority Leader Herring have to share about the race, and how you can join the fight to keep Virginia blue – even from your couch.
The truth is my friend, what’s at stake in Virginia is what’s at stake in your state – Virginia’s just the starting bell. Tune in at 1 PM ET on Tuesday to make sure you know what’s really going on and how you can help out.
