Despite communities of color making up nearly all of the population growth in Texas, the new maps actually reduce the voting power those communities will have in congressional elections. This is exactly what we’ve been warning about from the very beginning.
The good news is there’s still time to make a difference in key states across the country. We’re working to shine a light on this egregious abuse of the redistricting process and make sure voters see how Republicans are undermining our representative democracy.
Plus, we’re still supporting the Freedom to Vote Act, which would ban partisan gerrymandering in congressional elections in all 50 states. But we’re counting on YOUR grassroots support to keep up all our critical work!
