Palms & Culver City Neighborhood Meeting

(TODAY) Monday, October 25 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

Neighborhood Meetings are part of DSA-LA’s Neighborhood Solidarity Program—our chapter’s campaign to strengthen and grow socialist organization by uniting with our neighbors through tenant organizing, mutual aid work, and political study. 

This Palms + Culver City Neighborhood Meeting will include discussion of David Harvey’s Rebel Cities (recommended excerpts below), and dedicated time to reflect on past and strategize future directions of tenant canvassing and outreach in the area. This promises to be a great meeting for long-time and new comrades alike.

Mutual Aid Committee Meeting

(TODAY) Monday, October 25 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join the Mutual Aid Committee for our twice-monthly committee meeting, where we’ll be discussing ongoing and upcoming committee work, as well as helping folks get plugged into other work throughout the city. New members always welcome!

Please RSVP for meeting connection information.

Mutual Aid Committee meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

South Bay Neighborhood Meeting

Tuesday, October 26 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

Neighborhood Meetings are part of DSA-LA’s Neighborhood Solidarity Program—our chapter’s campaign to strengthen and grow socialist organization by uniting with our neighbors through tenant organizing, mutual aid work, and political study. This and all other South Bay Neighborhood Meetings are open to new and long-time comrades & community members who live in El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Lawndale, Alondra Park, Carson, and West Carson.

This South Bay Neighborhood Meeting will include a discussion of Stomp Out Slumlords, Metro DSA’s anti-eviction and tenant organizing campaign (recommended readings & resources below), and dedicated time to reflect on past and strategize future directions of tenant canvassing and outreach in the local area. This promises to be a great meeting for long-time and new comrades alike.

CalCare tabling w/ Healthcare Justice in Altadena – Wednesday

Wednesday, October 27 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join us as we table to educate on AB1400 Single Payer Healthcare for California. Help gather supporters for healthcare for all. 2 hour shifts

Westside Phonebank for In-person Educational + Social Event

Thursday, October 28 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Westside comrades – join organizers for a phonebank dedicated to reaching out to members in our branch to invite them to our upcoming in-person event – Advancing Socialist Politics at the Municipal Level: A Westside Branch Educational & Social, on November 7th [click here for details].

If you’ve never phonebanked before, no worries! This hosted phonebank is a great way to get involved in our branch’s work, and there will be time built in to walk comrades through the script and the overall process, step-by-step.

DSA for Hugo Soto-Martinez first canvass!

Saturday, October 30 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

We are knocking doors! We can only build community power if we are talking to our neighbors. DSA is co-hosting this initial canvass with the Hugo Soto-Martinez campaign, and campaign staff will be on hand to train us. If you’ve never canvassed before: we will provide you with a thorough training, pair you up with someone experienced/confident, and make sure you are comfortable going out. Don’t worry — we got you!

You will need:

  • a fully charged smartphone
  • water
  • a mask
  • a tote bag/backpack (optional, useful!)
  • a hat (optional, but a good idea)
  • sunscreen (if you need it)

Meeting point: Madison West Park at the intersection of Middlebury and Madison. Look for the Hugo for Community Power banner.
