John: Emerge alums are shaking up politics-as-usual and demanding policies that put people first.

All across the country, our sisterhood is growing – and today, we’re celebrating another historic first!

Both candidates in Boston's November mayoral election are Emerge graduates and proud daughters of immigrants – and they’re already making a huge impact in changing the face of politics. So, for the first time in 200 years, Boston WILL elect a woman of color to serve as Mayor!

This is what we mean by packing the political pipeline and making serious structural change possible. We’re so excited for you to meet these amazing candidates!

COUNCILWOMAN MICHELLE WU

Inspired by working in City Hall for Mayor Tom Menino, as well as on her former law professor Senator Elizabeth Warren’s first campaign, Councilwoman Wu is running to amplify unheard voices, remove barriers to resources for struggling families, and build strong coalitions to stop corruption, fight the climate crisis, and support healthy and resilient communities.

COUNCILWOMAN ANNISSA ESSAIBI GEORGE

Councilwoman George is a seasoned educator, and she’s running to bring that perspective to the highest office in the city. Through her teaching, she’s had a “front-row seat” to the challenges impacting Boston’s children and families. Now, she’s working to ensure no one gets left behind as Boston recovers from the pandemic.

Team Emerge is proud to have such phenomenal women in our sisterhood – making history, breaking barriers, and creating better opportunities for all. Will you donate now to help recruit, train, and elect MORE Democratic women up and down the ballot, in every state?

Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are running up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities, such as the environment, accessible and affordable health care, social justice, and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support — that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women. If you’d like to donate, click here.
