Did you see our message from last week, John? It's pretty important, so we've forwarded it below in case you missed it.
Here's the bottom line: passing HR 40 — a bill to establish a commission to study and develop reparation proposals for Black Americans — is a critical step we must take now. Not during the midterms, but now.

Subject: Passing HR 40 is a crucial step
To: [email protected]
John,
We need to talk about reparations in 2021 the same way we did in 2020 — we can't afford to wait for the midterms.
For too long, Black voters have been moved to vote on issues that matter most to them. But when it comes time to pass these policies, their representatives give excuse after excuse as to why it's not possible. And this has become especially true when it comes time to pass HR 40 — a bill to establish a commission to study and develop reparation proposals for Black Americans.
For three decades, HR 40 has been stalled by our elected officials. But the power of our progressive coalition has grown exponentially and now it's time to call on our representatives to bring HR 40 to a vote. John, will you commit to the fight for reparations with Jamaal and add your name in support of bringing HR 40 to a vote?
In the wake of the ever growing debate over Critical Race Theory, the vote to pass HR 40 and finally address the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States is critical.
As one of the few Black, progressive voices in Congress, Jamaal's mission is to bring true representation and clear solutions and policies that finally address the crises we face. It's past time for our country to recognize the intergenerational traumas that were caused by slavery and recommit to true equity, reparations, and justice for all.
If we are to truly recommit ourselves to building a society that uplifts, empowers, and supports our Black communities, we need purposeful, true reparations for the racial and economic discrimination that has taken place against African-Americans for far too long. And we need to address the impact of these forces on the Black community and work together to make recommendations to Congress on appropriate remedies to these injustices.
Passing HR 40 is a crucial step toward finally rebuilding our country but it's going to take all of our progressive coalition's power to get there. Please add your name in support of bringing HR 40 to vote and moving our country forward together.
Onward together,
Bowman for Congress
