John,

Texas Republicans are trying to silence Latino voters through extreme gerrymandering. The new congressional map -- recently signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott -- explicitly dilutes the voting power of communities of color.

It’s wrong -- and it’s why we’re suing Texas for the second time this year.. With the support of the National Redistricting Action Fund, Voto Latino is joining forces with a group of individual voter-plaintiffs to challenge these new gerrymandered maps for violating the Voting Rights Act.

However, as the legal process gets underway, we are committed to protecting Latino voting power in Texas and beyond. Can you make a contribution to Voto Latino’s efforts? [[link removed]]

Texas added two million Latinos to its population in the 2020 Census, which was the primary reason the state received two new congressional seats. Despite this, state-level Republicans still found a way to gerrymander and avoid adding districts that represent our growth. They packed and divided Latinos into convoluted district lines that lessened our representation and will make it harder to elect representatives of our choice.

It’s clear that Texas Republicans believe they can act with impunity in their crusade to suppress the vote -- but I have something to say to them: Not on our watch.

We will not sit idly by and allow them to diminish the power of our vote. Across Texas and beyond, Latinos deserve a say in their government.

Please support our efforts to fight back against extreme GOP gerrymandering. Make a donation today. [[link removed]]

Thank you,
María Teresa Kumar
