Halloween is fast approaching, but it was last week's news that really scared me.

Because of relentless attacks -- and millions of dollars spent -- by the Republican Governors Association, Louisiana Governor and fellow Democrat John Bel Edwards fell short of the majority vote he needed to win reelection outright. That race is now headed to a runoff next month, thanks to the RGA's massive investment in the race.

If you think Louisiana is the end, think again. There are just three Democratic incumbents the RGA can target in 2020 -- I'm one of them. Since 2018, they've raised almost $200 million, and they're itching to spend it against me, you can bet on that.

Grassroots donations from folks like you would go a long way right now in preparing for what's to come. We have a $25,000 goal to hit before Thursday's public end-of-month deadline -- will you donate $1 or more right now?

A few weeks ago, Governor Edwards' reelection seemed almost written in stone. He's wildly popular in Louisiana -- but then the GOP turned up the heat -- and their relentless ads, deep pockets, and half-truths could mean a Republican governor in Louisiana.

That's why I say over and over: Don't believe anyone who tells you this race is certain.

We should have learned after 2016 that nothing is certain. Make no mistake: While we're working to bring real progress to Washington state, Republicans are plotting. They have a plan to unseat me next year, and they could put that plan into motion at any moment. We have to be prepared -- that's why I'm asking you right now:
