I’m more afraid of financial ruin than breast cancer.
Throughout my twenty years as a physician, I heard sentiments like the above more times than I can count. Other times, I saw the words in a patient’s worried eyes when I talked them through their treatment options.
I know firsthand that providing medical care isn’t enough. We have a health insurance system that perpetuates injustice and prioritizes profits over people.
That’s why I’m running for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin.
Republican Senator Ron Johnson has held this seat for nearly twelve years and hasn’t done anything to improve health care — in fact, he worked hand-in-hand with former President Trump to try to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, which would’ve tossed millions of people off their health plans.
We deserve better.
In the wealthiest country on earth, no one should have to choose between bankruptcy and their health. My dad had to make that choice, and I’m running for the U.S. Senate so no other family ever has to face that impossible situation ever again.
